I do not know, but I have more people die each year waiting to know for a kidney transplant. In second place after the body is the liver, 10,000 people die each year waiting for a liver.

The kidney. By a mile. I suspect the reason is that it's easier to stay alive, because they need a kidney transplant, compared to, say, a heart transplant.
I think the heart) of the transplanted organ, can most of the others will be removed without the cost of living donors (eg, leaving the donor with one or a part thereof.
